Utah-based real estate photographer Brian Telford found himself and his truck stranded in the snow near Fairview, Utah. Being in a wheelchair, he was unable to free himself from the snow so he sent his drone with a note attached to a nearby residence, and got Trenton Taylor’s attention. Taylor was able to rescue Brian using their side-by-side vehicle.

It doesn’t sound like Brian had any complaints about the Taylors’ actions, but it is worth the reminder that Under federal law, it is a felony to willfully damage or destroy aircraft (drones are considered aircraft). 18 U.S.C. § 32
Telford’s clever thinking is a bit like a situation in Oregon from March 2023 when a person stuck in their car attached their cell phone to a drone and flew it high enough to get a cell signal. This let them send a text message to someone who could help.
